Child & Youth Advocacy Centres of Canada (CYACC) welcomes the passage of Bill C-16, An Act to amend certain Acts in relation to criminal and correctional matters (child protection, gender-based violence, delays and other measures).

CYACC is encouraged by measures that enhance the Canadian Victims Bill of Rights and affirm the right to access to information for victims and survivors as they navigate the justice system. We welcome the bill’s recognition of the harms of AI-generated and manipulated images and enhanced response to threats to distribute child sexual abuse material.

CYACC celebrates the passage of this important legislation and looks forward to continuing to work with the federal government to ensure children and youth receive the protection, support, and access to justice they deserve.
